Afriland Properties Plc has announced the judges for the recently concluded Afriland ArtFrica competition. The competition which received over one hundred entries across Africa, was launched in commemoration of Africa Day and aimed at encouraging artists to create masterpieces that represent Africa and the African spirit.
The judging panel consists of recognized professionals who have over the years mastered the underlying drive of art as a means to create and strengthen social bonds and understand the value of a work of art.
Bola is the Principal for Mastercard Advisors, Middle East & Africa with a primary focus on Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) markets.
He is an avid art collector and patron of African contemporary art. He is the co-founder of Red Door Gallery in Lagos and supports the growth and mentoring of young African artists. He has written several articles on the linkages between art and finance.
Nkiru is the Group Director, Marketing & Business Development at Verdant Zeal. A trainer, coach and an author with broad experience in Management Consulting, Marketing and Corporate Communications, she has over 15years multifaceted experience working with category leaders in Banking, FMCG, Healthcare, Insurance, Hospitality, ICT and the Public.
She is a prolific entrepreneur and has a rich relationship with art and an eye for it.
Ibe is the founder, Ibe Ananaba Art. A painter, fashion illustrator, art director, calligraphist and a designer. He is listed in the Smithsonian Institution Libraries Collections and is the current winner of ART MASTERS COMPETITION, ART VANCOUVER 2019.
Issues that affect contemporary living largely influence his art. He enjoys using multi-disciplinary approach for his art creations, in his search for new experiences.
Ibe studied Fine and Applied Arts at the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu, Nigeria. Majored in Painting, he graduated with Distinction in 1999.
He has exhibited in Nigeria, South Africa, Israel, United States, London and Canada.
Obinna Okerekeocha is a multimedia artist, designer, music composer and filmmaker. He studied fine and applied arts at the University of Nigeria Nsukka and currently works as the creative director at RedTV, a pan African lifestyle and entertainment channel.
Having spent over a decade in the Nigerian advertising and design world, he had the unique opportunity of stints with Nigerian super brands like Star Beer, Maltina, Close up, Maggi, Vmobile(now Airtel) etc.
His creative adventure took him into television where he became the BROADCAST DESIGN & BRANDING team lead at Nigeria’s first full-service 24hrs news channel, NETWORK NEWS 24, NN24. As part of the pioneer staff, he was part of the team that raised the bar of on-screen graphics for broadcast in Nigeria. Marrying the virtues of technology and innovation they created a look and feel that was seen and applauded by pan-African viewers.
Judges will evaluate entries and select the top 3 based on style, creativity, authenticity, message and engagement.
